Pictures from Our Mission

We have begun to gather photographs from the members of our team. This first one is of Charlie with two girls who trusted Christ at camp. One was in the baseball camp with Charlie, Byron and Cameron. The other was in one of the English classes taught by our team.

Greetings form the Hungary Team

Charlie Reibenstein in for Don Geiger

We are saddened but rejoice at the homegoing of Brian. We are focusing on the mission God has given us and moving forward.

Byron Donaho, Cameron Shaffer and I have been having a ball (pun intended) with the baseball campers, moulding them into major league players–well major fun players. We have been teaching the 12 to 18+ year-old boys and girls the basics of the game, and they have picked it up quickly. We have each been able to give them our testimony at the end of a session.

Tuesday night we saw five campers make public professions for Jesus as their Savior. Keep praying for the hearts of these young people. I believe God will touch the hearts of more of these sweet and needy kids.

Thank you for sharing your love through prayer.

We begin teaching English and baseball

July 28th, 2008 by Don Geiger

We began teaching English and baseball skills to the Hungarian young people today. The baseball group began teaching basic skills such as catching and throwing. The English students broke into several groups based on their skill level to learn vocabulary and conversational skills.

The students here work on their English and baseball skills for about an hour and a half in the morning and an hour in the evening. They spend the rest of their time playing games, swimming, and attending Bible studies in the morning and an evangelistic meeting in the evening. Redeemer missionary Laci Kadar spoke at the evangelistic meeting last night and gave a powerful Gospel presentation. The four Redeemer young people — Michael Wade, Cameron Chandler, AJ Ramler and Wesley Geiger — are staying in the dorms with the campers.

Thank you for your prayers for our team and for this great ministry, which is having such as positive impact on the lives of Hungarian youth.

The team arrives safely at Word of Life Hungary

July 27th, 2008 by Don Geiger

We arrived safely at Word of Life on Saturday and are spending Sunday afternoon beginning to meet the youth we will work with this week. (The time is seven hours ahead of Central Time.) Some of us will teach English and some will teach baseball skills. Our luggage arrived without any problems.

We enjoyed attending the worship service of the Toalmas Evangelical Church this morning. The church meets at Word of Life. Toalmas, about 30 minutes from Budapest, is the village where the WOL campus is located. The service was mostly in Hungarian, but was translated by Chris James, whose parents, Dave and Karen James, are missionaries supported by Redeemer. Their daughter, Becky, led the singing.

Tonight, we’ll attend the camp’s nightly teen evangelism meeting. We begin classes on Monday morning.

The weather here is warm during the day and cool at night — a nice respite from 100-degree Texas heat.

The team arrvied safley

I received a message this morning (Saturday) that after a very long flight the team arrived safely and with all of their luggage! They are excited to be there and eager to get started. Please continue to pray for the team and for the campers. They will be setting up the English teaching teams today.
